Day 1: DLH -> Sea -> birch bay

Our trip started off with an alarm at 3:45AM. No that isn't a typo or exaggeration, we had the choice between an early or late flight and we chose the former to eek out a little extra time on the west coast. While I'm the farthest thing from a morning person it was sort of neat to finally start waking up by the time we landed in Seattle and even after grabbing our rental car and finding a restaurant to grab some food at, we were still in time for breakfast! However, we somehow missed that the area was under a heavy haze from smoke from wildfires in the Cascades, so our initial ride up from Seattle along Highway 5 was with limited visibility. A slight upside though was an insane sunset from our hotel which was right on the water.
